Momentum Fleet GPS Tracking FAQs
Questions about Momentum’s fleet GPS tracking software or hardware? Here are the answers
Momentum connects GPS devices on your trucks, trailers, equipment, tools, and crews to a cloud-based platform. The devices automatically send location and activity data, and the software turns that into maps, alerts, and reports that show you where everything is, how it’s being used, and what it’s costing you—without manual data entry. No more chasing people or paperwork!
Yes. The Momentum mobile app is available for both iOS and Android. You can see real-time locations, driver insights, alerts, and key reports right from your phone or tablet, whether you’re in the office, in the field, or on the couch. You can download the mobile app for iOS (here) or Android (here).
Unlimited. We don’t nickel and dime you by charging by the seat. You can add as many people from your team as you need—owners, managers, dispatchers, foremen, and office staff. You can control each users account permissions easily within the platform so everyone only sees what they need to see.
No. Momentum is contract-free. You pay month-to-month, so if it ever stops earning its keep, you can cancel without penalty.
No minimums. Momentum works just as well for a couple of trucks and a trailer as it does for a larger fleet. Our largest customer has thousands of tracked assets and our smallest have just one. You can add or remove vehicles, users, and devices as your business changes. You’re not locked in with Momentum.
Yes. Momentum automatically ties together travel time, on-site time, and equipment usage so you can see what each job really costs. You can compare budget vs. actual and quickly spot jobs that are underpriced or eating into your margins. It’s also great for renewals – you have the data to show the customer to justify your quote.
Yes. You can export reports and share them with whoever helps you run the business. We also have an open API, so you can integrate Momentum with whatever system you need.
The devices continue to collect data when there’s a connection and send it back to the platform when service is restored. You’ll still see a clear picture of where your assets have been and how they were used once the connection is back. There is a notation on all these “rebuilt trips” as well as an icon on assets with low or no service. We call this message archiving and customers love it.
Momentum is built to help you run the business, not to nitpick every move a driver makes. You’ll see real data on routes, time on site, and incidents so you can coach with facts rather than feelings. Most customers share the data with their team so everyone understands it’s about safety, efficiency, and protecting the business.
Momentum is priced per device, with no contracts and no upfront hardware costs. To see our no nonsense pricing, visit our pricing page. There is no form to fill out – we just show your the monthly cost.
You can also compare Momentum’s pricing to other fleet GPS providers like Samsara, Verizon Connect, Azuga, and GPSInsight there too.
Yes. Eagle One can run off vehicle or equipment power (OBD-II or 12-volt battery), and it also has an internal rechargeable battery. That internal battery can keep the tracker running with no external power for up to six months, depending on how often the asset moves and reports. When it’s connected to power, the battery automatically recharges.
Toolie is built for long life out in the field. Its internal battery is designed to last about two years under normal use. When the battery dies, Momentum sends you a replacement Toolie at no charge as long as you’re an active customer—no mailing the old one back, no extra fees.
We built the CrewID an easy way to pair people with vehicles to track travel and labor time. The internal battery will last for 6 years. After that, we’ll replace it for free as long as you are a Momentum customer.
Customers can install the Eagle One themselves in a few minutes. You can plug it into the vehicle’s OBD-II port or use a simple 12-volt harness. No special tools or shop visit required.
Yes. If a vehicle is sold or taken out of service, you can move the device to another asset and update it in the software. That way you’re always tracking what’s active in your fleet. There are instructions on how to do that online, or you can contacts your CSM.
Momentum devices are built for real-world abuse—heat, cold, dust, and vibration. They’re designed for trucks, trailers, and equipment that live outside and work in all kinds of weather. Each piece of equipment comes with a lifetime warranty, so you’re covered as long as you are a customer.
Eagle One is designed to use very little power when the vehicle is off. It provides the data you need without putting a meaningful drain on a healthy vehicle battery. If the battery drops below a certain level, the Eagle One will hibernate until the battery is recharged enough to support it.
Momentum stands behind its hardware. If a device fails under normal use, we’ll replace it so you can keep tracking your assets with minimal downtime.
Yup. You can install Eagle One on vehicles, trailers, and heavy equipment, and use Toolie for tools and light equipment. Everything shows up on one map so you can see where your assets are and how they’re being used.
Vehicles and equipment use the Eagle One GPS tracker. If you want to track crew time automatically, you can add CrewID tags so the system knows which employees rode in which vehicle and when they were on the jobsite.
