Training #5: How to Edit/Rename Assets

Antonio Cole, Customer Success Manager at Momentum IoT, here with another installment of training.

This time, he’s showing you how to rename an asset, add more info to an asset profile, and optionally assign it to a location.

These tools are designed to let you easily identify the vehicle or equipment asset, and to get reports in a way that’s useful to your business.

You can log in and use the Web app at https://app.momentumiot.com/. Of course, you can also use the same login credentials to view assets in our mobile apps, which you can download here for iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/momentum-iot/id1513655057, and here for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.momentumiot.momentum&hl=en_US

Enjoy!

TIMESTAMPS

A – 00:00 to 00:16

Antonio Cole, Customer Success Manager at Momentum IoT, is here to give us a quick tutorial on how to rename assets. This will let you quickly search for and identify the right asset when looking at multiple assets in your fleet.

B – 00:17 to 00:24

The first thing to do is choose an asset on the right side column by clicking it. When you do this, the asset overview will pop up.

C – 00:25 to 00:50

Now, look for the pencil icon on the upper right corner. Click on this to edit info. You can edit the Asset Name, Asset Type, and Fleet Status of whether the vehicle is in service, out of service, or disposed.

D – 00:51 to 00:54

Here, you can also assign a standard location, or base, for this vehicle. For example, let’s say you have three locations, Location A, Location B, and Location C. You can assign the vehicle to any of your locations. You can create zones around your locations, and get notified when the vehicle is in or our of location. You can also get Reports by Location. For example, you can get a report telling you Idling Times for all vehicles in a Location. Instructions for that are here: https://momentumiot.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044956894-How-to-view-generate-an-Idling-Report-

E – 00:55 to 01:02

On this form, you can also enter a VIN number. If there’s already a VIN in the field, it’s probably from the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) port, but if there’s no VIN, feel free to input it manually here. Finally, you may also assign an optional Internal ID, such as “Jake’s vehicle” or “Batmobile.”

F – 01:03 to 01:28

And then you’re all set! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Antonio at antonio.cole@momentumiot.com, or call directly at 323-786-4523.
